Trust and safety

1. Listings are reviewed
New bakeries are reviewed before their listing appears in Discover. We look at the business details given, and we may ask for evidence that the bakery is a genuine food business before publishing.
Approved listings stay under review: repeated problems with orders, misleading claims or unsafe practices can lead to a listing being suspended.
2. Allergens and food safety
Bakeries handle the food, so they are the food business operator and are responsible for accurate allergen information and safe handling. CakeConnect does not inspect kitchens and cannot verify a cake.
If you have an allergy or intolerance, confirm directly with the bakery before you order, and again at handover. Ask about the 14 named allergens and about cross-contamination in their kitchen. If a bakery cannot answer clearly, do not order from it.
3. Paying safely
- Orders are paid directly to the bakery, so CakeConnect never asks you for card details or a payment for a cake.
- Prefer a traceable method — card or bank transfer — and get a receipt. For cash, ask for a written confirmation of the agreed price.
- Check that the bank account name matches the bakery before you transfer.
- Be suspicious of anyone who asks you to move off the app, pay a "release fee", or pay a different account than the one in the quote. Report it to us.
4. About design previews
The design preview on an order is an illustration generated from your brief so you and the bakery can agree a direction. It is an impression, not a photograph of the finished cake, and small differences in finish, colour and piping are normal.
5. Reviews you can rely on
Reviews come from customers who completed an order through CakeConnect, one per order. We remove fake, abusive or off-topic reviews, and bakeries cannot delete an honest review.
6. Reporting a problem
Use the contact page, or your order, to report anything that feels wrong: unsafe food, harassment, a listing that does not match reality, a suspicious payment request, or a bakery that has stopped answering mid-order.
Tell us the order number and what happened. We will look at the record, contact both sides where that helps, and act — including suspending a listing or account where we need to.
7. Your data and your privacy
Your profile and order details are visible only to you, the bakery you ordered from and our administrators. Reference pictures are stored privately and shared through temporary links. The Privacy Policy has the full detail.
