Terms of Service

Last updated 22 October 2026

These terms explain what CakeConnect is, what you agree to when you create an account, and how orders between customers and bakeries work.

1. What CakeConnect is

CakeConnect is an online marketplace that introduces people who want cakes and sweet treats to independent local bakeries. Bakeries list what they make, customers send a design request, and the bakery decides whether to accept it and what to charge.

Every bakery is an independent business. CakeConnect is not the maker, seller or deliverer of any cake or treat, does not take payment for orders, and is not a party to the agreement you make with a bakery.

CakeConnect is operated by [add your registered company name, company number and registered address before you publish].

2. Your account

You need an account to order or to sell. Give us accurate details and keep them up to date, especially your contact details and, for bakeries, your collection addresses.

Keep your login details to yourself. You are responsible for what happens through your account. Tell us straight away if you think someone else has access to it.

You must be old enough to enter into a contract where you live. Customers under 18 should order with the help of a parent or guardian.

3. Design requests and orders

  • A design request is an enquiry, not a confirmed order.
  • The bakery may accept, decline or quote for your request.
  • A quote sets out the price, the terms and how long it stays open.
  • A confirmed order exists only when you accept a quote, or when the bakery accepts your request on the price shown.

4. Prices, quotes and payment

Bakeries set their own prices and send their own quotes. Any price range shown on a listing, such as "from £35", is a guide only and is not an offer.

You pay the bakery directly using a method it offers, for example cash on collection, a card payment the bakery takes, or a bank transfer to the bakery. CakeConnect never receives, holds or passes on money for an order, and never asks you to pay it for a cake.

5. Making what you ordered

The bakery is responsible for making your order to the design you agreed, for food safety and allergen information, for packaging, and for the handover you chose (collection or local delivery).

Design previews shown in the app are illustrations to help you agree a look, not photographs of the finished cake.

6. Changing, cancelling and refunds

You can cancel an order yourself while the bakery has not yet confirmed it. After the bakery has started work, changes and cancellations are between you and the bakery, and the bakery may charge for work already done or ingredients bought.

Refunds are paid by the bakery, because the bakery received the money. See the Refunds, cancellations and disputes document for how we help when something goes wrong.

7. Your design and content

When you upload a reference picture or write a design brief you confirm you have the right to use it and that it is lawful. Do not send another bakery's photographs, or designs based on characters or artwork you do not have permission to use.

The bakery keeps the rights in its own cakes, photographs and written material.

8. Acceptable use

  • Do not post false, misleading or copied listings.
  • Do not harass, threaten or discriminate against anyone.
  • Do not attempt to break, overload or scrape the app.
  • Do not use CakeConnect to break the law or to sell anything unlawful.

9. Our role, availability and liability

We provide the platform and work to keep it available and accurate, but we cannot guarantee that every listing is complete or that every order will go to plan. We do not inspect or supervise any bakery.

To the extent the law allows, our liability to you is limited. Nothing in these terms limits the rights you have under consumer law, or our liability where it cannot lawfully be limited.

10. Suspension and closing accounts

We may suspend or remove an account or listing that breaks these terms, that puts people at risk, or that we are asked to remove by a regulator. Where it is reasonable to do so, we will tell you why.

You can stop using CakeConnect at any time.

11. Complaints, changes and governing law

Raise any problem with the bakery first, through the order. If you cannot resolve it, contact us and we will help where we can.

We may update these terms as the app changes. The version published here is the one that applies. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales.
